Server Support Team Recruitment, Responsibilities, and Dismissal

Status: draft, alongside proposed CoC. Supported systems section captures current reality.

The Server Support Team (SST) play a crucial role in upholding the values and functionality of the OARC community. This section outlines how SST members are selected, what is expected of them, and how dismissals are handled to ensure transparency and accountability.

Recruitment

The SST will recruit new members based on active participation, reliability, and alignment with OARC’s values. Applications or nominations will be open periodically, and a selection process led by existing SST members will ensure a fair choice. Newly recruited members may be asked to complete a probation period to ensure they are a good fit within the team.

Accountability

If a SST member is found to have acted in a way inconsistent with the Code of Conduct or fails to fulfil their responsibilities, they may be dismissed by a majority vote of the remaining Server Support members. This process will be handled transparently within the Server Support team, with respectful and fair decision-making practices.

If at any point a member of the team can no longer maintain the commitment required for the role they should “step down considerately” in line with the Code of Conduct, ensuring that Server Support continues.

Community Feedback

Members of the OARC community are encouraged to provide constructive feedback on Server Support team members. This feedback may inform future recruitment and dismissal decisions.

Responsibilities

SST members are expected, whilst undertaking their role, to uphold the OARC Code of Conduct, foster a positive community atmosphere, and manage administrative tasks respectfully and professionally. They should lead by example and make decisions that support the community’s well-being.

The team are responsible for maintaining the following:
