codeofconduct

This is an old revision of the document!

Proposed OARC Code of Conduct

//This has not been accepted and is only a proposal.//

We aim to be a friendly, active, and creative community where people can learn, share, and grow. We welcome new ideas and encourage collaboration between groups with different skills and interests.

Our Code of Conduct helps us work together respectfully and responsibly. It applies to how we behave in public and private as members of OARC, and we expect everyone to follow it in both spirit and practice.

Community Values:

  • Be kind. Respect other opinions and avoid misunderstandings, especially in text-based chats. Be patient and polite.
  • Be respectful. Treat others with courtesy. Aggression or personal attacks aren’t acceptable, and we aim to keep this a safe and welcoming space.
  • Take responsibility. If you make a mistake or upset someone, apologise and work to make things right. Avoid swearing or negative language—it only makes things worse.
  • Ask for help. The community is here to support you. Whether it’s technical advice or general questions, please reach out.
  • Step down gracefully. If you need to leave a project or reduce your involvement, please let the group know and make sure others can continue the work.
  • Take the initiative. Leadership comes from action. If you have an idea or see something that could improve OARC, go for it! You don’t need permission to make a difference.

How We Work

Staff manage the Discord server and website, but members are encouraged to self-regulate using this Code of Conduct. If you need help from staff, any of the activity leads, training team or community representatives will share information on how to contact staff while we improve our communication processes. We appreciate your understanding as we make these updates.

Our Commitment

This Code isn’t exhaustive but reflects our shared values and goals. Following it can create a positive, inclusive, and productive community for everyone.
