How to setup Outpost PMM using telnet to connect to to BPQ BBS

Use case

I wanted to connect to my local BBS via telnet to download bulletins and send mail.

Prerequisites

  1. Download and install Outpost from https://www.outpostpm.org/index.php
  2. Create telnet user in your telnet port configuration. Make sure this user is your callsign.

Setup Outpost

Station Identification

When Outpost starts to the first time, it will show the Station Identification window.
Add your callsign and name and click OK

The Outpost will close.

Setup Interface

From Setup menu select Interfaces…

Click New

Populate IF Name

Select Telnet as the interface

Click Telnet tab

Configure the Telnet server

BBS Logins

From Setup menu select Starion ID…

In Station ID window select BBS Logins and click New

Remote Host: is the IP address of the machine where BPQ runs
Remote Port: is TCPPORT=8010 in the BPS telnet port configuration

It is very important that Logon Prompts match the BPQ telnet port configuration
