BPQ - Configuring Mail

BPQ includes a Bulletin Board System that can be used for sending and receiving mail between local users on the same BBS and further afield.

bpq32.cfg

To enable the Mail functionality you will need to edit your bpq32.cfg file.

Firstly add the LINMAIL directive somewhere near the top of the file, under SIMPLE (if defined)

SIMPLE

LINMAIL

Next define the BBS application at the bottom of the file, underneath your last port.

You should update your MYCALL to the callsign of your node. Convention usually puts the BBS on SSID 1. You should also change ALIAS to a suitable alias, up to 6 characters long.

APPLICATION 1,BBS,,MYCALL-1,ALIAS,255

Once done, restart bpq to apply the changes.

Web Interface

Once the mail functionality has been enabled in bpq32.cfg, additional settings are configured via the web based admin interface. This is generally found on port 8080, e.g http://[IP OF NODE]:8080

To start with the configuration, click “Mail Mgmt” and login with the Callsign and password of the SYSOP and you should be presented with the following screen:
