Icom IC-F210S

An Icom PMR set that seems good for 1200bd/9600 Packet

Short version:

  • OPC-617 cable gives you a DB9 data port, home-brew is also possible
  • You need to enable external PTT on the cable through the programming software
  • You need to bridge solder pad F on the main board to enable data input through the cable
  • Martin G6FJI briefly flicked his Ninos to 9600 and got the test sequences going, dummy load to antenna
  • Simon M0GZP tested IC-F210S with Yaesu FT8900 using two Ninos at 9600 and communication seemed to work well
  • Further testing needed and encouraged

If you don't have an OPC617 cable you can connect direct to the connector on the board as follows:

Here is an example of such a home-brew connection:

The connector is an 11 pin JST ZH plug, but any size down to a 5 pin JST ZH can be used for connecting to NinoTNC (only pins 7,8,9 and 11 are needed)
